Door-tah

She calls me mum, and tells me that she is my door-tah. She is naturally happy and feels able to express her strong emotions to me, which I am ever so thankful for. Some days (even if it is 40degrees Celsius) shorts will not do, she wants pants, and she wants them now, I get that. She has recently toilet trained herself, despite much upheaval and change. Spontaneous proclamations of love are common from her and she prefers to be outside, or swimming. Running is better than walking and sometimes she is '(too) tired to walk' and wants to ride on my shoulders. She likes cutting paper with scissors and drawing, and must do these things and most others by herself. She misses her brother desperately when he is at preschool and is already anticipating her first day. In the last two days she has been creating with lego and duplo and using stickers from one book to decorate another, after all a lady beetle must wear a pink ball gown and pooh bear has a coat made from a '(s)nail'. Her favourite book is 'Monkey and Me' by Emily Gravett and her toy of choice for bedtime is her 1985 cabbage patch doll (off ebay) 'Millie' (Her name for the doll not official name). Hearing the words 'I wantchooo' from her little mouth is enough to tug my heart strings, that is fourwa surewa.

Bless my heart

Miles bounds into the kitchen where I have just put this song on. After a series of leaps and groovy moves he stops and jumps over to me and declares in a very happy voice,
'this is my favourite song mum!'
'Is it mate?' I ask,
'Yep, and do you know what I love more than this song?'
'No mate, what?'
'YOU!'

Can something more lovely be said to me today? I doubt it. My heart melts completely, thank you my magician infatuated, lego loving, swimming and backwards somersaulting, water loving, growing boy.
